        本實驗室致力於環境病毒及微生物之相關研究,兩大研究主軸包括(1)環境中之病毒檢測、處理、及濃縮技術之開發、(2)生物處理系統微生物族群分析及應用等。 
        目前研究顯示人類腸道病毒(如腺病毒、腸病毒、及諾羅病毒等)會經由民生廢水傳播至環境中,部份這些病毒可在環境中存活一段時間,並進一步造成相關疾病的再流行爆發;本實驗室相關研究重點之一乃針對民生廢水及回收水之致病病毒族群結構及數量進行探討,目前已完成臺灣地區民生廢水及活性污泥中人類腺病毒之高通量定序及親源分析(科技部計畫),成果已陸續於國內外研討會發表,並獲得兩次(2012及2013年)海外華人環境保護學會(OCEESA)最佳論文獎(the Best Paper Award),彙整成果並已刊登於Journal of Applied Microbiology國際期刊 (JAM 119: 1181-1195)。另一研究是針對校園宿舍回收水,利用宏基因定序(metagenomic sequencing)及即時聚合酶連鎖反應(real-time PCR) 探討水體樣品中病毒族群多樣性其數量,初步成果已陸續於國內外研討會發表,並持續補足成果資料準備投稿國際期刊。另一方面,還有針對目前所採用之US EPA環境病毒採樣方法之成本高及時間長之缺點進行改善,利用微電流電吸附方法達到低成本省時間之目標,以MS2噬菌體進行測試最佳可達60%濃縮回收率(或~6*105 viral particle/ml回收量),目前成果已於the 7th IWA International Young Water Professional Conference 研討會發表,目前執行中之科技部計畫仍持續針對不同電極材料進行提昇濃縮回收率/量之探討。近期亦開始探討環境病毒濃縮步驟及環境工程處理系統(如薄膜過濾或加氯消毒等)對病毒之去除與失活之效果評估,規劃導入目前本研究室開發用於採樣濃縮環境水體樣品中病毒的電吸附方法,探討其用於致病原吸附/去除/失活之效果。本實驗室已於103年8月建造完成生物安全等級二級之負壓實驗室,可提供環境病毒相關研究之進行。
        在第二研究主軸有關微生物族群分析及應用方面,主題之一是由環境中篩選出具產生外切型纖維水解酵素能力之真菌菌株,並進一步分析外切型纖維水解酵素的特性,在92株由空氣樣品分離出的真菌菌株中發現一株Meyerozyma sp. 能產生一種新穎之外切型纖維水解酵素,其FPase活性0.18 U/mg約為商業化酵素的40-50%。 相關成果已發表於國內外研討會發表,並已彙整成果刊登於Advances in Enzyme Research 國際期刊(AER 3: 53-65)。另一研究主題為利用高通量定序分析方法探討國內商業化生物助劑中之微生物族群組成,成果已彙整投稿於International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology。此外,亦參與新興污染物處理去除方面的研究,針對降解布洛芬的生物污泥進行微生物族群分析(東海大學GREEnS整合型計畫)。近期亦開始著手分析土壤地下水受TCE污染之樣品中脫鹵球菌(Dehalococcoides sp., DHC)之數量與生物整治功能之評估。
